FAQs

Is The Aveda Institute an accredited school?
Yes, we are accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). For more information on NACCAS Click Here. (Updated link needed)

Am I required to find my own clients for the school clinic?
No, we market our clinic so that you don't have to worry about that.

What are the graduation requirements?
You must complete the required clock hours, have an academic average of 75 or above, pass your final and written exams, and pay in full all of your financial obligations to O'Briens (this includes overtime charges).

After I graduate, will I get my license?
After you graduate, you will then be entitled to apply for the Vermont State Board exam. If you pass all three sections, you will receive your license.

Is it difficult to pass the state board exam?
Our instructors have years of experience preparing students to take the state board exam. Over the entire course you will be getting instruction on how to pass your exam. Your final mock board exam will be an exact simulation of the state board (some grads say it's harder than the actual exam!) It's our job to make sure you're ready.

Will The Aveda Institute help me to find a job after graduation?
During your training here at The Aveda Institute, you will receive special classes such as resume writing, interview tips, and business management. We also have resources available to let you know of salon openings in the area you would like to work. O'Briens Aveda Institute is affiliated with over 20 salons throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

The Aveda Network is an integrated team of more than 6,500 salons, spas, institutes and stores in over 20 countries worldwide. It is a powerful global affiliate aligned by a common goal.
